I always feel better when there are 2 together at home, rather than 1 on their own. I would leave 2 x sensible almost 17yr olds at home together.
My older 3 are very sensible (almost 18, 19 & 22) and I have left them at home together for the first time and headed to Florida for 19 nights with the youngest 2. My mum lives down the road and is texting each day to check on them as they want to be independent and look after themselves. My eldest has lived on her own, 19 year old has done a year at uni. I still worry about them though and check on them daily. |

Same here. We’ve left our 14 year old with our daughter at age 18 (she’s just turned 19 now), but would never leave him alone.

Completely depends on the child. I could, but obviously wouldn't, leave my 12 year old over night. She is very sensible. If they aren't ready at nearly 17 I'd be asking myself why.
Go away and enjoy yourselves |

[QUOTE=Twin mummy;14007450 I suppose part of it is that we wouldn’t be able to get back to them quickly but My Mil is only half an hour away.[/QUOTE]
Hate to break it to you but my understanding as a parent of teens is that this particular worry is here to stay for pretty much ever 😂 |

We decided our 15 year old is now going to.a friends overnight. She wanted to stay home alone overnight and is totally trustworthy but I know I won't be able to relax if I left her!

We're the same with our 15 year old who is often left during the day but not at night. So much so that when we go away he will go to his Grannys with the dog (5 min walk away) to stay over and then come back home in the morning.
It's a very grey area but in the unliklely event of there being a problem the NSPCC guidelines that children under 16 should not be left alone overnight seems to be what is used although there are no actual legal "rules". |

Yep tbh i.am.not worried about leaving her overnight in the sense she is very organised etc, but my parents who live across town are also away then so I'm worried more! If she's at her friends I can have a good night and relax 🙂

My 16 year old is of to Leeds Fest next week! I’m going to be worrying the whole time. She is a sensible girl and I trust her (it’s others I don’t trust 😂 )Also, I can’t really say much as I went all over the place, including on a holiday abroad when I was 16. 🙈
They are growing up so fast I don’t know where the last 16 years have gone! Kat |
