We are leaving my two overnight for the first time in a few weeks and they’re 19 and 16! I would never have left them overnight together before as they didn’t used to get on, however they’ve grown up now and since getting our dog in December DD16 will be happy to spend all day and night with him 😂 so won’t bother he brother much.

Totally depends on the child I think. My eldest was ready to be home alone when we went abroad for 10 nights at 16. He hasnt holidayed with us since. He’s 18 now and was at home for 3 weeks last month. I never have to worry about him, he is very grown up and independent.
My middle son is 17 next month and we are leaving him for the first time in December for 5 nights. He wouldn’t have been ready a year ago. He’s not as mature and is very forgetful so I worry about him leaving the house unlocked etc. But there has to be a first time and it’s a good way of them gaining more responsibility and maturity.

I am in the very same situation right now. Hubby is away and I am working tue night. Son 16 1/2 will be on his own for the first ever night.
I am confident he will be fine as is a very sensible kid who tows the line and never causes problems. But it still is a worry as I will be about 60 mons away if he needs me. Ill be honest, it is also the dog I worry about too!

We left our 16 year old a couple of nights this year. He loves it. He likes the peace and quiet. I have a 12 (13 in 2 weeks) year old. I will leave him over night with his brother when he is 18! Can’t wait lol
