Would you check in later if asked by the management company?
Quick question...
We have a villa booked in Cape Coral (got the recommendation on here) and we are due to arrive on Saturday. I had previously asked (months ago) if there was any early check in available as we leave Anna Maria island at 11am (latest check out time) and it’s take 2 hours to get to Cape Coral. I was told as there is someone else in we couldn’t check in early. Fair enough. Had an email today saying the owner is trying to sell the villa and they have a viewing booked Saturday 2pm but they “should” hopefully be done by 4pm. I replied saying that I assume we’re ok to still check in at 4pm and checked no viewings for when we are there - she said no viewings and that as said they “might” be done by 4pm but that it would be the best idea for us “to do some grocery shopping” so we don’t arrive at 4pm. Now it’s already difficult for us to find something to do till check in time as we have all the luggage and valuables in the boot so can’t really leave the car anywhere, but I’m not sure if I’m being out of line here but IMO I’ve paid for a villa and my check in time is 4pm, I’m sure if I decided to hang around a few more hours on check out they wouldn’t be happy so why shouldn’t we be able to check in at the time we were given? Would you still just rock up at 4pm? Edited at 04:42 AM. |

Absolutely! Get there at 4pm, no way a viewing of a villa will take 2 hours!

Offer to give them a 2 hour leeway on your turn up time for free pool heating or a refund of half a days rental.

I would also expect "something for my trouble"... let them know you will happily consider their request if they would like to offer you something in return - since you have paid for 4pm access.

Selling is a big thing for the owner. I think I would try and be flexible.
I would probably arrive at the allocated time, but if the viewing was still going on, I wouldn't be making a scene and maybe go for a coffee or something. |

I agree with Floridavisitor, it will cause you inconvenience so ask what they propose

If you were happy to leave your luggage in the villa I would ask if you could check in before the viewing as it will be cleaned by then. Then you could go out and explore the area, get shopping or have something to eat while the viewing takes place and get them to phone/message once they have left.

I would just arrive at 4pm.. Not your problem they scheduled viewing when they have guests. Are you even sure it will be cleaned properly in time as well.

Can you decline their suggestion and reinforce that you check in at 4 and they conduct the viewing before hand. I would insist on 4 as a certainty and not a maybe as you have luggage etc.
If they wish to request a late check in again then ask for the chance to leave luggage at the property and check in earlier. The cleaner will have to be on time and the previous occupants out on time too but it’s not too much to ask for everyone to be punctual. The people might not even show up for the viewing and it’s something that could easily be changed. |
