Alaska Cruise - warm clothes?

Going on the wonder in 2 weeks. Have watched some recent trip videos on youtube and folk are wearing winter clothes, but the weather reports say temperatures haven't exactly been cold.

Anybody been at this time of year and advise if hats, gloves, winter jackets etc will be required?

We've been twice in August and my advice would be "yes" take some warm clothes. It wasn't freezing cold on the ship but its not like the med or Caribbean. I would have said something like early spring or late autumn in the UK. Plus when the ship moves its windy on deck and can feel cooler.

Also, depending on what excursions you're planning it can get colder - glacier trips, travelling up mountains etc. Even when you go close to the glacier it can feel colder

So its not full winter wear all the time but I would definitely take hat coats and gloves with me

Thanks.

Not going on the glacier but we are doing a white pass summit / emerald lake / klondike tour, and going on a bear watching trip.

Take layers. We went in early June and needed everything from shorts and tee shirts to full winter survival gear! On a couple of occasions on the outside deck, when the wind was coming off the glacier, it was absolutely freezing. Definitely four seasons in one day.

Definitely thinner layers. We went in June and it was a glorious day the day we cruised up to the Dawsons Glacier. We were in tshirts.

Our Skagway day was windy and cold so we wore a long sleeved tshirt, a lightweight jumper then a jacket (windcheater or similar). Definitely take warm hat and gloves.
We took thermal leggings and all kinds, but didn't need them on our trip.

No need for mountaineering boots, just decent trainers are fine. If it rains though, the trainers will be soaked so if you have walking boots, take them.

We went this time of year with NCL, it wasn’t cold really! The only freezing day was in Glacier Bay! Other days were quite warm, we ate outside each night on the cruise!

DH and I have been before, we went May 2018 and loved it! The scenery was spectacular and Disney Wonder was a fabulous. This trip is will be joined by my MIL & FIL to celebrate her birthday.

Really looking forward to this trip expecting it to be a completely different experience due to being later in the season. Less snow but should see bears and Salmon

Are you on the FB group for the cruise?

No, dont have Facebook. My aunt we are going with may well be though, she is into all the stuff.

We have been on the other 3 ships, so this will complete the set. Until the new ones are sailing.

6 of us going. Looks out for the Scots! Cant imagine there will be many onboard.
