Christmas Day buffet

We have decided to do a buffet instead Christmas Day as we all eat far too much food and feel we are too 'bagged' to enjoy the rest of the day! What would you do as part of a buffet? xx

My MIL sometimes does a buffet. She still does a turkey and carves that up and does roast potato's which are amazing and pigs in blankets. She then does what I call normal buffet food - salad, dips, pizza, nuggets, cheeses, crackers etc. It normally works well.

We always have a buffet style dinner xmas day
My lot have pretty plain tastes and I don't do anything hot so its usually basic buffet fare like Cold cuts, crudites, fruit platter, various dips, quiche, sausage rolls, cheese & crackers ect
If we're having guests then I'll add a few hot options and get in a few things from the xmas buffet sections to make it a bit more special/xmassy
I try to keep the dessert options lighter/fruity

We do a buffet Xmas day and then go out for our Xmas dinner on Boxing Day. We do turkey sandwiches with pigs in blankets and roast potatoes but also do a curry or pasta as there are 16 of us. We also have an amazing butchers nearby who does the best quiche and pies so we sometimes have those too. Guests bring the desserts and drinks. We then do it all again on New Year's Eve 😀

I’m seriously considering doing this this year. I seem to spend so long in the kitchen & miss out on all the fun & games. I think the kids would prefer it too.

We have actually had a takeaway for the last 4 years, same price as on a normal day and so relaxing not being stuck in the kitchen,

I’ve always thought there’s too much pressure on Xmas dinner (and Sunday dinner aswell!) and we never have it. I can’t remember what we had last year but think the year before we had chicken wraps!
