First cruise booked

It's not until March 2021 but we booked last night with NCL for their 7 day Hawaii cruise which will be our first time cruising - any tips and advice greatfully received for the cruise itself and excursions to take. I'm aware that some Dibbers have taken this cruise previously.

The plan is to fly into LA, stay overnight, take the train to San Diego where we'll stay for a few days before flying to Hawaii for a couple of days before cruise. At end of cruise we'll spend a few days in San Francisco before flying home. Hoping to get upper or Delta One reward flights.

We booked an aft facing large balcony storeroom and have been allocated a room on deck 10 in the middle of available rooms - didn't amend this choice. Need to stock up on dramamine next year!

It's our 25th wedding anniversary and Hawaii has been on the list of states to visitors few years now.

Any guidance is welcome!

Sounds great - we took the train from LA to SD and I can recommend the business class seats, just because it's a bit nicer and you get soft drinks and pastries!

Try to sit on the right hand side so you have the ocean on your side - it's stunning scenery a lot of the way down.

You don't fancy doing Dis Cal then while you're there?

We've been to Disney California a few times and 6 flags but not our thing now! Still love rides but next year in Florida will only be buying SeaWorld tickets - love Mako! Previously been universal AP holders too.

Thanks for the train advice. Trying to understand cruise etiquette from the forums I've read but I'm confused!

Are you on the Pride of America? We did it way back in 2007, it’s a brilliant itinerary. We rented a car in most ports, the highlight was driving around the Volcanoes NP on Big Island and the Road to Hana on Maui in a Mustang convertible.

Yes, Pride of America. Thank You for the excursion tip, we thought we would arrange our own and DH loves driving
a mustang!
