Resorts by boat from Epcot

Are you allowed to take the boat from inside Epcot (I think its called the World Gateway) to one of the resorts for lunch if you are not staying onsite. Been many times but have never done this. Do you know which resorts it goes to?

Yes, you will be able to take a boat from International Gateway which is just beyond the UK pavilion. The Epcot area has the Beach Club, Yacht Club, the Dolphin, the Swan and the Boardwalk Inn. There are lots of good restaurants in this area. The Yacht and Beach are only a short walk. The boat after those three stops will go to Hollywood Studios which gives even more dining options.

The boat inside EPCOT will only take you across the lake. You have to exit the park at International Gateway (between the UK and France pavilions) and get the boat there to any of the hotels.

To add to what the others have said, there are 2 boats that go across the lagoon, and they stay internal and just shortcut the walk round the lagoon. The only way to catch a boat to somewhere else is to leave the park at international gateway.
