Palio
Palio Restaurant Review
Thursday 8th December 2005 Diners:- Bob and Dawn Meal:- Dinner The Palio Restaurant is situated in the Swan Resort to the left of the entrance from the bridge leading to the Boardwalk. It has an Italian theme with Italian food being served. Our ADR was for 7pm but after walking around for a while and after meeting Buzzlightbeer we were soaked, as it had not stopped raining all day. Dawns long skirt was so wet that it was trailing the ground making it even wetter and heavier. We decided to try and get dinner at 5.30pm so off we headed to Palio past the beautiful Christmas decorations. On arrival we saw the sign indicating that dinner was served from 6pm but someone was at the entrance taking bookings so we managed to change ours to 6pm then headed off to sit and wait whilst attempting to dry a little. At 6pm we arrived back at the restaurant and were seated in the furthest away place in a dark alcove, I wasn’t sure if this was for a romantic purpose or because we looked a mess with our soaking clothes and flat hair (guess which one of us suffered from this). The Restaurant Our server Nancy was very nice and she brought us a free small cup of house wine, which was poured, into a Palio mug. We ordered coffees and asked for a glass of Blackstone Merlot each. Italian breads and a tomato/garlic dip were brought to our table and we both agreed that both were very tasty. Bob:- Ministrone Soup. Entrée Dawn:- Ziti Con Pollo Al Pesto Bob:- Piccantine Di Vitello Al Marsala Dessert Dawn:- Crème Brulee Bob:- None. The Minestrone soup was quite tasteless especially after eating the wonderful breads an the accompanying dip plus there was not a salt or pepper cellar to be seen and neither of us fancied asking for one then offending a mad Italian chef. The main course was OK to put it at it’s best and I felt that I could easily have made the same at home as it was quite a simplistic course. The marsala sauce was very understated whether on purpose or not I was unsure of so my meal consisted of thin cut veal cooked quickly on a skillet and bedded on pasta (spaghetti) with slight tomato and cheese grilled on top. Dawn’s meal was also quite simplistic with cooked chicken tossed in with pasta and pesto sauce added. I must admit that I am getting the taste for crème brulee and certainly enjoyed nicking some of Dawns dessert. Rating:- 6.5/10 Good service, peaceful surrounding and an OK meal. Bill:- $81.34 including a 20% DVC discount but not including tip. Bob
