Will I need cash on transatlantic cruise?
I am flying to Orlando and then one night in Orlando before boarding for the 14 night transatlantic to Barcelona.
So the only time I will be off the boat is on Castaway cay and the 3 stops in Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar. I plan to book transfers online so thats paid for here, and charge everything to the ship room to be paid for by Santander CC at the end no American fees and Nationwide CC and debt card for Europe no fees. So really with room charging do I need cash? Edited at 03:20 PM. |

you may need some individual $$ for room service (the room service food/drink itself is free but you have to tip the guy bringing it)
i would say a couple of dollars in tips is about right for coffee and cereal on a morning (we tip $2-3 usually for brekkie coffee and then $5 if you order a tray full of food) |

Oh and don't forget stamps on Castaway Cay can only be purchased using cash.

You might need some dollars for your first night in Orlando and for stamps in Castaway Cay as other poster said. Better to have some euros for when you get to Maderia, Gibralter and Barcelona, I use my Nationwide CC for everything else.
You wont need cash on the boat as you can charge everything to your stateroom card including tips.

If you were to decide to drive yourself down to the port you'd need approx $6 for the tolls from Orlando to the port -depending which route you go, maybe a little more ?...
If you were dropping off a hire car at the port; between $2-$6 to tip the car hire shuttle driver. ... but either way you'd still need $2-$6, for the DCL porters, depending on the amount of luggage you are taking. Not sure if DCL are taking their own porters for disembarking ? ...if they were, then another set of tips in $s the other end.
