Another vote for the overseas highway to KeyWest. Its like driving through a movie scene. lots of places to stop and look around on the way down but the drive itself is the main attraction for us. would love to do it again

We are also doing a road trip this year. Not planning on going anywhere near Orlando as like you have been many times and want a change.

Have flights booked to Miami, overnight near airport and have booked Fort Lauderdale for 3 nights so far. Think we are planning Palm beach then across to Naples area then Florida Keys and last few nights in Miami for shopping.

Have two weeks so don't want too many places but just to take it as it comes, unlike Orlando where I plan like a military op!

I would definitely recommend driving to the keys, even just to Key Largo, stunning views from the bridges leave you breathless!

Just Got Back

We did Orlando 9 nights, Miami 4 nights and Key West. It was great! I would stay in South Beach as we parked the car and Kicked back. The only day we drove was a day to the Everglades. In South Beach you are close to everything. Stayed at the loews Hotel and The Inn at Key West. Both Hotels were great. On the way down to Key West do the Dolphin Research Centre. Swim with the Dolphins much better value than Discovery Cove.

This year we are doing a weeks road trip staying in Hampton inns.

Miami-drive to Everglades then onto Clearwater.
Then onto Valdosta GA, then 2 nights in Woodstock GA to see family. Down to Daytona beach. Back to Miami before a weeks cruise.

I'd like to tag along with this thread too!
Planning a road trip for August 2016.
Here is my wishlist and I was wondering if this could be done:
Going for about 16 nights.
Flying indirect to Jacksonville
2 nights in St. Augustine for the history
4 nights in Orlando for our Harry Potter fix
1 night in Crystal River for the Manatees
2 nights near Tampa/Clearwater to do Bush Gardens
2 nights in Naples to visit Everglades
4 nights in the Keys - where is the best place to stay?
1 night in Miami Beach or two nights if there is a ferry to Havana
Flying home from Miami
There is 4 of us, but our sons will be 18 and 15 so no problem in regards to driving around.
Will it be too much driving?
What do you think?
Thanks in advance

Well it's looking likely we may start planning a 2016 Florida road trip May after Sept when we come back from Canada.
Probably looking at mid October to catch the Hallowean at MK just a one day park visit. The Keys look stunning but any hotel recommendations for South Florida and Miami? Not looking for fancy just safe and comfortable.
