Caribbean Beach Resort,Old Port Royal, Riviera and Skyliner works

The original thread was located HERE.

A brief summary of what's happening at CBR:

Disney are building a new DVC resort, called Riviera resort on the land where Barbados and part of Martinique once stood.

New Old Port Royal,
New check in area at OPR, completely refurbished.
(Custom House now demolished)

Shop - selling Disney merchandise, snack, drinks, essentials etc.

Food at CBR:
Old Port Royal food court - Centretown - Quick service menu and grab and go available.

Sebastians Bistro table service waterfront restaurant.

Banana Cabana: Waterfront bar and food menu available.

Spy glass grille - quick service at Trinidad.

Pools:
There is the main pool and play area, featuring zero entry pool and water slide.

Quieter pools at: Jamaica, Aruba, Martinique, Barbados and Trinidad.
Laundry services available at Laundry room at all quieter pools.

**There are no lifts st CBR, so if you have young children and/or a buggy, may be best to request a ground floor room. **

New Skyliner gondola transportation system, that will operate between CBR, AoA, Pop Century, Epcot and HS due to open summer/fall 2019.

Building work of Riviera Resort expected until Autumn 2019

Coke freestyle machines are in the ground floor vending areas of: Martinique building 25, Barbados 31, Trinidad 34 & 38, Jamaica 43 & 46 and Aruba 52 & 54.

In-room pizza delivery - 2 TS credits or pay cash/cc.

Preferred rooms are now Martinique and Barbados until further notice.
These rooms are closest to main pool and Old Port Royal.

Standard rooms: Jamaica and Aruba

Pirate rooms in Trinidad

(Barbados was formally know as Trinidad North and Trinidad was formally known as Trinidad South)

New bus route until further notice:

1st stop: Martinique
2nd: Old Port Royale
3rd: Barbados (Trinidad North)
4th. Trinidad (Trinidad South)
5th. Jamaica
6th. Aruba

During busy times in the morning there will be 2 separate bus routes going to the parks one for : Martinique, OPR, Barbados & Trinidad
And one for Jamaica and Aruba.

CBR e-mail address: WDW.GM.CaribbeanBeach@disney.com

Additional info:
For anyone going to CBR thats not sure of skyliner route over CBR and those that want to be near stations or away from route, Ive roughly worked it out.

CBR skyliner station by outer edges of Jamaica 41 going to AoA/Pop and HS or onward to Riviera station and onward to Epcot.
So would be ideal location for those that want to be near that station.

Riviera station that goes to Epcot and to CBR station is closest to Aruba, prob Aruba 53 being the closest.

Skyliner route from CBR station to Riviera station looks like itll pass over the back car park side rooms of Jamaica 44, across mid section of 45 & over Aruba 51, 52 and parts of 55. Looks like it will possibly go over Aruba pool.

There is a skyliner pylon/tower/support (whatever theyre called) by the beach at Aruba between Jamaica 45 & 51, the back of 44 and outer edge of 41 if you want to try & avoid these views.

The skyliner only runs over the standard rooms at CBR, so Jamaica and Aruba. But if you have water/pool view or King room these can also be in Jamaica or Aruba.

First notification from Disney re new Riviera Resort - Taken from WDW Magic 16/7/17:

'Disney has today announced plans to build a brand new Disney Vacation Club Resort near to Epcot called Disney Riviera Resort.

The new resort will open in the fall of 2019, featuring 300 accommodation units, and linked via the new Disney Skyliner gondola system.

Disney Skyliner will connect the new Disney Vacation Club property, Disneys Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts with Disneys Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.'This thread has been automatically created, because the original thread had over 500 posts.

Please feel free to carry on.

"Just after a bit of advice, looking to book this resort for August 2019 but wondering what the construction will be like at this point? Thanks "

(sorry didn't know how to quote something from the previous thread)

temo_gemo we are in a similar situation as we are also looking at this resort for August 2019 (although the size of it has always bothered me given that we won't have a car and there are a lot of bus stops). My impression is that the work will be complete way before then, but it isn't clear whether the Skyliner will be running by August 2019 since Disney haven't given a date yet. Watched Tim Tracker yesterday and Skyliner development looks well underway which gave me some hope. Seems like a gamble though - do I book CBR in the hope the Skyliner will be there, or go for a safer option like POR/POFQ? I am really unsure about what to do. POR and POFQ look lovely, but seem a bit more "grown up" compared to CBR and CSR. I always think the theming at the value resorts looks more fun for the kids, but have pretty much ruled them out due to location and we are hoping to get the QSDP offer with a moderate and upgrade to DDP.

Happy Easter CBRers past & present.
Was just thinking back to this time last year when all the comp posts were happening and Papa Mouse's letter.😂
Can't believe that was a year ago.
Was thinking of posting a few CBR tips on here today for future CBR'ers 😊

Would love some CBR tips. We are staying there in just over 2 weeks time. Never stayed there before. As we are just having a quick 6 night trip to do the Disney Star Wars run, play some golf and do the parks we have opted for no car this time! Hoping we dont miss having it and that the Disney bus system is kind to us

Ok, a few CBR tips 😊

1) Breakfast
Breakfast is buffet in the food court tent and is 1 QS credit pp if you eat in.
Or you could go to the counter and get a 'To go' tub and fill it with croissants, Mickey waffles, pastries, cakes, whatever you like for 1 QS credit and share it with your family/travelling companions and save your QS credits for lunch/dinner.

If you think you'd want hot food as well as the pastries I'd recommend getting 2 takeaway tubs and filling one with hot food, one with cold. Unless you all particularly want to eat in the food tent for breakfast, the takeaway breakfast is such a good idea and you don't have to have it in your room if you don't want to, there are seating areas outside food tent and by pools.
Or take your tub to the parks with you to eat later..there's a bus stop behind(ish) the food tent.

As far as drinks go, at breakfast they have OJ, coffee, tea, water, fizzy drinks. I think there was another juice there too when we were there?

The food truck by the food tent also does breakfast items as does Island Markets, but IMO the takeaway QS buffet breakfast when shared is the most economical way to have breakfast onsite.

Any questions, please ask & if anyone has any other Breakfast tips, please add to thread.

I'll be back soon with other CBR tips.

😊

Reading this made me realise I too can now say I am going to CBR next month! Really looking forward to it. I have requested Jamaica buildings 41 and 42. We have a car so can pop to Pop or AoA for food if needs be. I'm sure we will also pop over to POR for their create your own pasta.
