We stayed at Lake Berkeley and it was lovely. Handy to be so close to Walmart! We have since tried villa communities off the US27 and prefer that location. We have stayed at Solana, which had a manned gate house and they were very vigilant about who they let in, it has a lovely clubhouse and communal pool, with a bar etc., so nice for socialising. We also stayed at Highlands Reserve and that is our current favourite although it’s not gated, it is close to a Publix and some restaurants which you can even walk to, if you are at the right end of the resort.

It's great to do your planning.
Best to find the villa you want and then check out the location. That way you should come up with your ideal stay.
