Must see in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto

We are staying 6 full days in Tokyo & 4 full days in Osaka.

Two days out of the six at Disney & 1.5 days at USJ.

What would you recommend as a don't miss/do in each City/area we are staying?

Looking for some fresh ideas.

The teamboardless digital museum at Tokyo Odiaba - my advise is to book tickets before you go and get there as it opens as the queues can be manic!
borderless.teamlab.art/

That area of Odiaba has 3 huge malls - one of them has the giant Unicorn Gundham robot outside it.

Actually, before I suggest more - what things you into that are Japanese?
Anime? Gaming or none of that and just want to see the city or ... ?

When are you staying and do you have an idea of the area (or already know) where you’ll be based?
For me I’ve gone for a lot of typical touristy sights to try to get a taster of what it’s like but things that fit in with our love of anime/gaming. Some things on my list depend on ticket availability but fingers crossed we’ll be doing the following:
Akihabara
Ghibli Museum
Nakano Broadway
Mt Takao
Ikebukuro
Imperial Palace Gardens
Zojoji Temple
Tokyo Tower (One Piece)
Tokyo Station
Tokyo Disneysea (probably only get 1 day here or maybe 2)
Sumo (final matches are the first full day we are there)
Meiji Jingu Shrine
Senso-Ji Temple
Team Lab Borderless
Odaiba (hotel possibly located here, it’s between here and Ueno)
Will be going end of May for 9 nights - now trying to work out best way to see everything and plan out train/metro/bus routes (so any suggestions feel free to let me know &#128540

Nijo-jo castle was good in kyoto. Nara was excellent too. The major train stations alone will keep you amused, especially kyoto station.

My son is heavily into Anime & Gaming, so a mixture of that & culture really.
We are staying in the Yotsuya area not far from Shinjuku in Tokyo & near the Bay in Osaka, infact near the Aquarium.

We are over from the 4th May (land) till the 16th(fly back).

In Tokyo, we loved the Ghibli museum. You can buy tickets from the Lawson website on the 10th the month before you go. They sell out quickly. The museum shows short films and has drawings and statues from the films. For retro gaming there is a great shop in Akihabara called Super Potato that sells retro consoles, games and merchandise. It is worth visiting one of the video game arcades around Akihabara, such as the Sega Centres, each floor has a different theme of video games. Depending on the age of your son, the Pokemon centre and cafe in Takashimaya Department Store is good and the Nintendo store has just opened in Shibuya.

Kyoto is beautiful, there are lots of temples around. The samurai and ninja museum is fun for a couple of hours. Walking around Nara is really good fun, as there are a number of tame deer that wonder around.

Also recommend AClaireyTale on youtube. The few videos were Kyoto based but they're up to Tokyo now and are very informative- especially about how to see the sights via public transport and prices etc.
