Mobile Can you bring basic over the counter meds?

Just wondering if you can bring everyday medications such as paracetamol, immodium, etc to Florida?

Yep. Pretty much anything "over the counter" here you can take into the USA. In fact you can buy a lot more potent stuff "over the counter" there due to the differing healthcare system, i.e. a hefty charge to see a GP.

Certainly run-of-the-mill medications such as ibuprofen / immodium won't even blink an eyelid. If you do get asked what you've got, Ibuprofen is often known as Advil in the USA. Immodium is, Immodium.

You should avoid Paracetamol with Codeine and Sudafed as those two have more restrictions in the states than here. Chances of you being stopped are virtually negligible but I always like to be on the safe side!

Yes you can and we take a small supply of paracetamol, ibuprofen and Calpol sachets. But we stock up on ibuprofen from Walmart - can buy a bottle of 500, for about $12 for 2 bottles (1,000 tablets) so we buy a couple of bottles each trip to bring home.

I take Cocodamol with me (paracetamol and codeine) as those are the only painkillers which help my lymphoedema. Nothing else touches it. I have them on prescription though and always take a print-out from my GP's surgery website of my prescription meds.

It’s OK if on prescription.
