Leg Space in a Full Size SUV 7 Seater

Is there sufficient leg space for my son who is 6ft.2 to sit in the back of a Full Size SUV 7 Seater. We currently have booked a standard SUV but my husband would like a bigger car. There are 5 adults but my mum who is 78 will need to sit in the second row so my son will want to sit with his girlfriend in the back row.

In short, unless you get a Ford Expedition, probably not... the majority of the 7seaters have third rows that will get you well acquainted with your knees. The seats are attached straight to the floor, there isn’t really a footwell...

That said, the newest ford expeditions do have more leg room and the brand new 2020 versions of other models are catching up, but at this stage no one could guarantee that you’ll get a full size 7 seater SUV with the third row full leg room.

The second row will have plenty of room though... and you may get a car with captains chairs (so like two arm chairs) In the second row or the bench style we’re used to here in the UK with three seats.

You could pay more for an extra long 7 seater suv (Ford Expedition EL, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon XL) which would all have leg room for adults in the third row. But the price jump is pretty huge... much more than standard SUV > full size 7 seat SUV.

Hope that helps. I was having this exact conundrum, resigned myself to a full size suv with Alamo and planned on really haggling for a Ford Expedition at the garage... Never got there though!

Thanks for the information, sorry you didn't get to go on your holiday. Unsure if we will get to ours but trying to stay positive. Still unsure what vehicle we should go for. As we are flying into Sanford and unsure what 7 Seater SUV they will have, I have sent an e-mail to Andy at DFCH who we are booked with for his advice.

We go in September and have 6 adults. I have gone with a Premium 7 Seater SUV through Andy at DFCH, which gives us the larger models PumpkinKing mentioned.

This is costing £782 whereas a standard 7 seater is around £500 price, so quite a difference, but for us it is worth it.
