Still hope it might come down!
This is not a normal year though and I expect that is reflected.

I go very off peak and could probably do a touch better but would be reasonable satisfied with £286.

Last year you would be getting around $1.28 this year has been as low as $1.18 & it does make a difference but I would say that £400/night for a Deluxe is about right, still a bit cheaper than Disney Deluxe prices. Also a case of supply & demand, I'd guess that more & more people are buying specifically for Express pass privileges. £286 for HRH was a good price, the lowest that we got for RPR was £272 for Sept last year.
By the way we've just paid £140/night for Sapphire Falls, for a lone traveller or couple you can stay there , buy EP's & still have change

Travel Republic have Loews Royal on at £303! Happy with that. That is for August
Just Checking - if you book with a third party do you still get FOLP?

We always stay at hard rock club level. We do normally stay a minimum of 5 nights if adding Disney or full 14 nights at HRH so a multi night discount is applied. We have had AP for around 17 years and the multi night offer has always been cheaper than the AP discount 😉.
In the old days we always booked direct and linked our rewards cards as you earns points with spends and these really racked up .. now it’s free nights. We have found the last few years virgin holidays have been really good with the club rooms, this years (now moved to next year) it was the same price to book HRH direct compared to flights + hotel with VH (you don’t earn reward nights though.. although last year they did put our 10 nights on). Might be worth a look ?
For next year we have HRH +Flights with VH and Disney direct with WDW travel xxx

Totally separate but can I ask, regarding your flights with Virgin. Were Virgin happy to give you the flights even though you weren’t booking the whole holiday with them? I did this in 2019, booked flights and first 5 nights at Disney and then asked for the return flights 2 weeks later as we had a townhouse booked separately. The reason I ask is heard they wouldn’t do that anymore. The package had to be complete with them.

How much discount do you get on Universal hotels with an AP?

It varies,
sometimes only in certain Hotels & sometimes only in certain room categories plus normally only available a few months before. So for the twice I've looked -RPR only club level rooms & twice the price of a normal room on BA, 2nd time Sapphire falls wasn't listed but even with an early booking offer I was cheaper booking on Netflights
