Where u flying from? Flight prices do go up n down. There’s always choice to go indirect to bring the cost down!

Flight prices change all the time, airlines will have sales around the christmas period so you could try then.
Can you fly into another airport, like TPA or MIA? Is indirect an option? This year we only wanted to do a "cheap" trip, checked prices every couple of days from about 4 months out, eventually we got the price we wanted 8 days before we travelled. |

Gatwick easiest, husband doesn’t want to lose a day by going indirect, so we may be stuck with the price hike or just leave it.

You won't necessarily lose a day, you just might land an hour or two later than flying direct.
Look at Tampa, Miami or Sanford. Also indirects you could look at are Aer Lingus via Dublin, KLM and Delta via Amsterdam.

We are flying indirect with BA/ Iberia to Miami via Madrid, from Heathrow. Definitely won't add a whole day! I think it's officially an extra 5 hours or so; 2.5hr flight, and a 2hr layover. Also try a fly drive as they can work out cheaper...

Have a look at Gatwick/Tampa or Heathrow/Miami as options, granted both involve a drive to Orlando but if the price is cheaper then it's worthwhile.
Check BA holidays for Flight & Car, Flight & Hotel or all 3 and see if that makes a saving for you.

We had the same issue - prices had almost doubled
So we are now going indirect - it has good and bad aspects. Yes we have a 3hour wait at the second airport and still arrive the same day just a bit later than usual. But we have saved traveling down to Man and saved on the overnight hotel. So with the savings above our indirect price was not far off the unbelievable TC price we paid

You don’t lose a day. You will arrive 3 or 4 hours later. And that depends on when your direct flight leaves. If you have a midday direct flight it will make little difference to your arrival time.
