I’ve also posted about insurance on the 2021 positivity thread. It looks like there is no product on the market at the moment which covers you for Covid cancellation on a new booking (even though some claim they do in headlines, they don’t when you read the small print). However, a lot of
Policies will cover Covid illness costs. Look for things like the terms of any Covid “guarantees” so if you book, you are guaranteed a voucher / refund and check minimum deposits so that if you did lose them it is affordable for you

We will not be covered for on going COVID complications but for emergency medical expenses if we contracted COVID while away.

I don't expect them to cover changes of dates but that is why I've chosen BA book with confidence. I spent an hour waiting to get through to them on the phone to edit something but the operator was so helpful he instilled enough confidence in me to continue with the booking.

I'm also using credit cards to book as much as I can including the holiday and park tickets.

I posted recently that some insurers stipulate to not go against FCRO AND WHO travel advice, please, please, please, make sure you read what is covering you. the WHO don't publish 'travel advice' so it's a really easy cop out if you need to claim.

Even some offering 'COVID cover' are definitely not insuring it going against FCO advice, unfortunately people see the flashing lights and attractive title of 'COVID COVER' and are blindly buying policies that are averaging £200+
You may have saved me a phone call as we have the same policy.

What does ongoing complications mean? Does it mean if you have contracted it before travel? Nice to know it provides cover whilst out there!

Sorry for delay it didn't notify me that you had quoted my post, (I wonder if we share a similar career lol)

I'll write verbatim what Philip William said to me:

I asked the following questions (back when I was very confused...and still am)-

1. I will not be covered for anything related to COVID19 except that which is listed in Section 2 (emergency medical care) but even if the FCO lift all but essential travel, if a local Government, the WHO of local authority say we should not travel to that particular country due to COVID19 then we won't be covered for emergency medical care due to COVID19 or any mutations.

To which they responded:

You will be covered for emergency medical expense if you did contract coronavirus while abroad. We are governed by the Foreign Office.

Their covering letter they sent me also includes the following:

There is no cover under this policy for any claims as a result of Coronavirus, COVID-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-COV-2), any mutation of Coronavirus, COVID-19 or SARs-COV-2 or any pandemic or fear or threat of any the above. Except for Section 2 Emergency Medical and Other Expenses. This will only apply if you did not travel against the published advice of the FCO, any local government, local authority or WHO.

It's the part about the WHO that really bothers me as they aren't a governing body when it comes to advising where to travel.

Please don't take my answers as anybody who is knowledgeable in all of this either lol I am still just as confused.

Thank you. I'm glad you are confused too.

Unless I have it very wrong we definitely share the same career as our user names aren't exactly well coded
