That’s bound to be stressful for her, especially as it’s such a hands on course 😔 Georgia hasn’t any real info on her course other than lectures will be all online but lab sessions will go ahead in some form on campus 🤷 I think the universities should be relaying some more information by now to try to ease some of the student’s worries.
Georgia thinks the lab sessions will be smaller groups and one of her housemates is also taking Biology, so it would be useful if they were in the same group and could be lab partners as they live in the same house. However the university hasn’t asked for any information about this so it doesn’t appear to be the way they are going to decide who is in which group even though it would be less risky for spreading the virus |

That's very true. We looked at Lincoln first time round but she wasn't sold on the uni of and we didn't look at BGU then. I loved Lincoln maybe thats why she didn't opt for it then as she was trying to do the opposite of everything 🤔 She's been really well since her surgery thankyou. Not taken a single pain killer since March, thanks for asking. X

Hi all, how are you all doing this year with the return to uni plans? DH and DS have just left with a car load and due to a frozen shoulder injury and generally an over anxious and interfering personality I have stayed home out of the way lol. I have been buying bits for him and his flat for weeks and have said to Col to leave the unpacking to him as he won’t have a clue what I’ve been putting by!
Something funny just happened though ... and it’s not the first time ... as I walked back into the house after waving him off with tears in my eyes there was an unusual/underplayed but familiar Country song playing on the radio. It was a duet Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill which is called The Rest of Our Life in which Faith sings about planning children since she first met a Tim - a daughter named Rose and a son called Ryan! My kids are Rosie and Ryan! What a sign ❤️ As you know Rosie moved to Qatar 4 weeks ago so I’ve been a bit anxious and emotional lately and also I’ve been very concerned about Ry’s return to university in this current climate so this for me was a sign that everything is going to be OK and me and Col can now start to look forward to the rest of our lives! I will still worry though lol |

What a beautiful song. I am a firm believer in signs.
When I dropped Liv in Lincoln we ended up outside the book shop she loved when we visited 3 years ago. Not realising its called Lindum books which is the hockey team she wants to play for. Also as we unloaded her last few boxes into her room and nearly time for me to leave the girl next door was playing Stevie Nicks. Our all time favourite artist. X These young adults will be ok its just getting used to how different it feels x

That’s beautiful, I also believe in signs. I do hope Col copes with the unloading. I agree with letting them put things away themselves. I put Georgia’s sheets in a drawer and she informed me I was putting them in the wrong place 🙄 I soon realised its best to leave her to it 😂
This year is definitely throwing up some extra worries. Our local area here in Wales goes into local lockdown tomorrow, and that means we aren’t allowed to leave the area unless it’s for work or school. Therefore we can’t visit or bring Georgia home for a visit until our lockdown is lifted. The local lockdowns estimate is 2-3 weeks which isn’t too long, but it’s stressful to think of her there and we can’t get to her (although if it were an emergency I would go) The plus point is that she’s been there since Monday and is settling in really well with her friends in their houseshare and is really enjoying her version of uni life (which consists of baking cookies and going for walks with her friends) She just sent me a photo of a delicious lemon and oregano chicken breast and garlic roasted veg she’s cooked for her tea so at least I know she won’t starve 😂 |

That’s definitely a sign 😍 I’m so pleased that Liv is settling in well too
I think it’s fate that Georgia chose Bristol. She hadn’t been there very often before her uni visits, apart from the zoo. However when I was pregnant with her I went to the Hippodrome Theatre there with work friends to see Doctor Doolittle with Philip Schofield in it. I hadn’t told anyone apart from DH about the pregnancy as it was early days. We went to the bar next to the theatre for a meal before the show and I ordered orange juice, which made my friends guess instantly that I was pregnant (shows that I rarely drink juice 😂 ). So the big reveal of her existence actually happened in the city she now loves and chose for her uni home Edited at 06:30 PM. |

How is the new term going for all our students, have they all started their lectures yet? How are they coping? Is Covid causing any extra problems?
Georgia started lectures this week, all online so far. She does have labs on campus but they don’t start for two more weeks. She’s struggled with downloading and using new programmes a little, as she has no experience of the programmes before. However, she’s muddled through and started the work and says she’s really enjoying learning and working again. She says the lecturers are setting online work for them which is useful and interesting as well as providing the lectures so she’s pleased with the online teaching given, although she would prefer face to face teaching ideally She’s settled in well with her friends and they are all being sensible and not socialising outside their own household. They enjoy their free time watching films, playing games and going for walks. Georgia is also enjoying cooking her own meals again. I’m missing her but I’m more contented this year as I can tell she’s enjoying being with her new housemates far more than last year. She says she has still had moments of homesickness but it’s been much better this year for her too. I hope everyone else is settling in well 😀 Edited at 06:50 PM. |

Glad to hear that things are going well for Georgia. It sounds as though her university have set things up very well!
O is doing fine! He had a long weekend last weekend so went to Hamburg with his flatmate. Back to the grindstone this week! He also got a job at his uni - software developper on one of the university’s apps! He started today! The joys of remote working! It is 10h a week (the most that he can work under his visa conditions) but he is thrilled to be able to use his programming knowledge! I hope everyone’s young adults have settled down and are managing to enjoy student life under the current conditions.

Nice to hear your daughter has settled well Disney daffodil. Liv seems to be enjoying herself. She has one face to face day a week 9-2pm on a Thursday. Some other online sessions she is doing. She said its different to before and I think shes missing some of the social side to uni life but so far so good. She seems to be enjoying life in Lincoln x
