Hot tub owners - chlorine?

Our hot tub arrived on Thursday along with a whole heap of information via a teaching session!

Can other tub owners let me know how you manage your chlorine please? I assume that once we're used to it we'll know how much to put in before or after each use?

At the moment I'm testing before use, topping up, testing again, do you just get a feel of how much chlorine to add after each use?

Thank you

We used to use Chlorine granules and then switch to tablets which are much easier. Just put one or two tablets in the filter area or holder and they slowly dissolve. I now only check two or three times a week depending on how much we use it.

Make sure you "shock" once a week with a high dosage.

It all seems very daunting at first but you'll soon get into a routine.

One thing i would suggest is to think about switching to Bromine as its much kinder on the skin.

Thank you, I know my friend uses Bromine also in hers so definitely worth considering.

We have an external filter so I assume there's no point putting the tablet in there and we'd need to buy a holder?

Not knowing your particular setup makes it a bit tricky to advise but as long as the water is flowing over the area the tablets are in they will be fine. On mine there is a removable grid prior to the filter so i put my tablets on the grid.

We have a tablet in a float. We test about about twice a week and add some PH if needed.
