Refurb at Blue Heron ... update page 3

Hi we’re off on Saturday and have just been informed by BA that exterior refurbishment is taking place from 07.00-18.00 every day and that there may also be reduced access to our balcony. Is anyone there just now who can let us know if this is spoiling your holiday.
BA offered us our money back for the hotel part of our holiday to try and book independently but it’s only six days away and I don’t think we’d get anything similar for the same price.

Edited at 10:26 PM. Reason: Update page 3

Stayed here many times over the years. There’s always something going on regarding refurbishment. Call the hotel direct and tell them you need a room away from dust and noise. They were always accommodating to us. Ask for a room on the top few floors for brilliant views of Disney. If your not happy with the room they will move you. Regarding location it’s one of the best hotels in the area. If the refurb gets carried out it would be near the top of the hotels I’d stay in. The apartments are really big but you want one fully refurbed.

Thanks. We’ve stayed here twice before and love everything you mention. I was just looking for anyone who’s stayed recently to let me know how bad the noise/mess is with the refurb.
I emailed last week to ask the same but nobody got back to me 😳

We stayed in August. They are stripping the building. We didnt find out until we arrived and I've got to be honest because we had planned to chill at the hotel during the afternoon heat it affected us massively.
I raised a complaint with them and expedia and they were both next to useless. I have videos of the constant grinding that went on throughout the day and we were not able to use the balcony facing Disney at all during our stay despite emailing the hotel before our arrival to confirm we would have 2 balconies.
I'm really not someone to complain and pretty easy going but this was appalling. The worst of it maybe over as this was a few weeks ago now.
I have posted pictures on trip advisor to warn others, bizarrely there are a couple of good reviews but if you go back a couple you'll see the reviews that match my experience.
I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear but it is major refurbishment not just a lick of paint it is extensive, constant disruption. I will see if I can post the videos.

I'm really sorry. We were on the 10th floor and I can see if would have been great but this was extreme, we spoke to someone on one of the lower floors who had the same issue.
The apartment itself was a little tired but the sink in our ensuite was loose, and some of the furniture was damaged but I wouldn't have been bothered if we could come back and chill out away from the het for a few hours in the afternoon but this was so far from relaxing it's unreal. Expedia have said that there was a notice when we booked but I am certain there wasn't because I checked this while we were out there and when we got home.

Have you asked BA if they can offer an alternative ?

Might be worth looking at their website for other hotels that would suit you, in the same price bracket and asking them if they would transfer you.

Hi Ericsmum. BA asked if we had looked at their website to see if there was an alternative we would like. We asked for LBV resort and spa as we’ Stayed there before. It was £200 dearer than Blue Heron when we booked but they wanted £700 to change and wouldn’t budge. They said in our price bracket all they could offer inLBV was a red roof inn which looks awful inside and nothing like a condo. So I think we’re stuck 😳
