Mobile DCL placeholder extension

Just off the phone with Disney Cruise Line, who have let me apply a placeholder to a cruise after my placeholder expiration date. I saw it
mentioned on another forum that some people had been allowed to do this, so though I’d phone DCL and give it a go!

On an early September 2019 cruise, I booked a placeholder which expired early September 2021. I’ve just been allowed to use this on the 2021 WBTA (just outside the original window). I’ve changed to this from the Eastern Caribbean I originally had booked for May 2021. Still kept my 200 USD on board credit too. Just wish I’d tried this on release day last week, as the cruise has gone up slightly in price since then (although definitely still up on the deal!)

I don’t know how far they would be willing to extend a placeholder, but it’s worth giving DCL a call.

I rang about mine and they refused to extend it for the 6 days I needed! We probably wouldn't choose to go on it anyway unless things improve dramatically.

They are only allowing extensions I believe if the cruise was cancelled. They have always been really strict on these previously and I've had similar issues before the crisis. Its a pain! At least they are helping out those of us who have the issue of a cancelled cruise. That said even when they haven't cancelled you've lost 6 months of cruising options so really they should do something.

Sorry to hear that 🙁

Just to add, I didn’t have a cruise cancelled and was allowed to apply the placeholder to a cruise beyond the original expiry date. Might have a been because I moved it from another booking (May 2021 to Sept 2021)?

Ohh really? That's interesting. And it was still outside your 24 month placeholder?

Yes, outside by about 10 days or so. Doesn’t seem to be widely advertised though and no idea if they’re being consistent with this.

I understand if you used the placeholder to book, and then move it, they will alllow you to move it to a cruise that sails before March 2022. Which I guess is the equivalent of the six month extension for most existing placeholders.
We hope to move our WBPC to the following year.
