Visa expired, will he get an ESTA?

Hi all!
Planning for our next Florida getaway but have came up stumped with the visa/ESTA.

Back in his early twenties, my partner gained a couple of convictions. Nothing heavy duty but obviously this resulted in him having to apply for a visa when he first went to Florida in his late thirties. He was granted a 10year visa.
The convictions have been spent for two years, which I know means nothing in the US. However, this visa has been expired now for a couple of years.
The question is, would he need to reapply for another visa?

Thank you for any help!

I would suggest that he is best to get another visa. His details will be on the US embassy site so it’s a sure bet that they will have access to his convictions as he declared them before to get his visa. If he got one before and hasn’t been in trouble since then it seems reasonable he will get another one. I would do it for peace of mind anyway.

To be honest the best people to take advice from is the US Embassy as everyone else is just giving an opinion.

He will definitely need a Visa with more than one conviction especially as they already have a record of them.

Thank you everyone, I think he’s going to just apply for the visa again for definite peace of mind 😊
