Your crate needs to be small, just enough room for the puppy to stand up, turn round etc and that’s it. Too big and they’ll use the corner as a toilet and you’ll struggle to get away from that.

I wouldn’t wake the pup up in the night. It’s an hour a month during the day, but once they are asleep they can and do hold it. Just make sure you can hear the crate, and the first Yelp, have them outside with no fuss, no eye contact. Just straight out and back.
Make the crate as dark as poss as well. Otherwise you may well have some 4am mornings 😂
I think our crate may be a little too big... he is a cockapoo, I wonder if I might be able to put a partition in there whilst he is small still. (food and water bowls only in there at the moment for storage until he arrives) so yes, there would be a perfect corner for him to toilet in, thank you for the heads up! Hubby is also getting a bit of ply to put on top so the blanket for cover doesn't touch the sides so pups cannot pull it through.

I defo would try to partition that off, you can buy adjustable ones but obviously you have that one, the idea is the same though 😂 just the cushion area would be perfect initially.
Another thing I did was feed him his last meal at 6, then lift his water up at 7. Just gave me more chance to empty him pre bed time...

Please don't take your puppy's water away, they need fresh water at all times

You've had some really good advice here, if you need a training resource then Victoria Stilwell is a really good one to follow.

I was just about to post the same.
Fresh water should always be available for them.

Toilet training can be really quick and easy as long as you’re on the ball.
As others have said, after a meal, waking etc, take them out. They often start circling when they need to go.
Use the same exit to the garden each time if you can. Before you know it, he’ll go to that exit when he needs to go, as he knows that’s way to go. Our dog is 5 now when he needs the toilet he’ll go to the patio door and tap it.

You’ve been given lots of great advice, the best thing we ever did was enrol our puppy in training classes as soon as he was able to go out at 11 weeks old. It’s essential to socialise them at a young age. Before that, carry him outside to get him used to traffic noise etc.

Good luck! Would love to see a pic when you get him 😊

Mine is almost 2 and does the same, if you don't respond he snorts at you!

Also endorse the puppy training, with a positive reinforcement methods

Thank you for your advice, I can always use the back door so that's good, will for sure pop a photo up when he comes
