Picked up at MCO. Hertz glitch £378 for 12 days. No small premium SUVs upgraded to intermediate premium SUV. Pretty basic for a premium model. Infinity QX50 2017 model with 34 thousand odd miles

Ford Expedition

2021 expedition with 6000k miles on the clock,
Hired from budget through BA.
Large SUV,
Group L

I was very happy when I picked it up from the car park. Heavy on fuel but at $3 a gallon I wasn’t bothered. Vehicle needed a Hoover out as it has some dog hairs in the trunk.
For anyone worried about hire cars in short supply the car park was full and I didn’t queue at the desk. Drove around 1500 miles in 18 nights and was pleased with the performance and size. The kids also loved it.

2021 Honda Passport

Hired via Andy at Discount Florida Car Hire (DFCH) for £900 for 20 days (literally half the price for anywhere else) at Hertz.

Type requested: standard SUV

Type allocated by Hertz: 2021 Honda Passport (3.5lt, V6), 5 seat plus two pop up seats in the boot, plus huge alloys, With 5,900 miles on the clock.

Gadgets: push button gear selector, flappy paddle gear selector, Android Auto, reversing camera, imminent collision warning (adjustable to not go off prematurely) lane warning assist (handy, as this sod is wide), and radar powered adaptive cruise control

Upside, lots of room for my powered wheelchair, only having to fold the handles down but other than that is stays assembled (so lots of room for luggage for those not needing a wheelchair)

Downsides, thirsty...even in economy mode I'm getting around 15-20mpg, but it has a 19 US gallon (approx 73 Lt) tank so costs approx $60 to fill.
Mo's a shortarse so could do with a stepladder to get in.

/Edited to add pic of bootspace, forgot it when originally posted

Here are some pics of the car we picked up from Hertz in Miami Airport earlier in April. This was an intermediate SUV (Q4) booked through Andy - £419 for 11 days. It was a Hyundai Venue, the last Q4 left available that morning.

I was pretty happy with it - it drove perfectly well, only had 15k miles and was very clean. Android Auto worked very well, CarPlay was also available for the Apple tribe. No satellite radio but FM was fine.

My only gripes were that it had less luggage space than our Volkswagen Golf we have at home so we struggled to fit everything in, and fully fuelled the range was only 350 miles (again, my Golf which has a 5 litre smaller tank can manage about 450 miles).

No upsell from Hertz in Miami, all went very smoothly.
