Spotify and data.

This month I have noticed a huge increase in data usage. Odd as wfh so mainly on WiFi. Looking it tells me it tells me 10gb has been used in Spotify 😔

Now I don't really use it so much maybe half an hour/hour of podcasts (which have already been downloaded) a few times a week.

I tested this morning. I went for a run and screen shot data before and after. Walking back (20 mom's max) I listened to the end of a podcast. Get home and kill all apps and nearly 3gb used. This is clearly not right.

Anyone else noticing this?

That does seem rather excessive for Spotify.

I just checked my stats and since mid-May I've used 2.3 GB on Spotify. This is with fairly extensive use of maybe 2-6 hours a day, mostly not on Wifi...

Something doesn't seem quite right somewhere. Is it downloading playlists using mobiel data perhaps? Streaming for 20 minutes wouldn't use anywhere near 3GB of data. Check the settings in the app.

I looked in settings. Data saver was in but Spotify connect in the back ground was on. No idea what that is. 10 gb in just under a month as my data resets soon.

I don't tend to use playlists only podcasts. And that was set to WiFi only. P

I have used Spotify this way for a while and it's only in the last month I have seen this. Luckily I have a lot of data but previous to this month have never used more than 5 gb in a month! And that's when I was using it when at work etc... This is why I noticed.

I've even watched YouTube videos and not nearly used as much data!

What other apps can be used in android for podcasts?

Google Podcasts is one, Google Play can do them as well.

You then have 3rd party apps like Podyssey.
