Florida guide books
Hi all
We are going to Florida in October for the 4th time, this time we wont be doing any parks The kids love reading the unofficial guide to wdw but as we aren't doing parks I was wondering if there was anything similar not including them The kids think we are going next year

I really enjoy the DK Eyewitness books and the Florida one is also interesting with plenty of great photographs.

Brit Guide Orlando 2019 (Brit Guides) amazon/dp/05720474..._Ufk.CbJJVJ1BM
Lonely Planet Florida (Travel Guide) amazon/dp/17865725..._Ihk.CbBYWR5SG visitorlando/en/discounts-and-tickets The first book has some non theme park stuff, the second book is very Southern Florida based but a bit on Orlando The Visit Orlando site may be helpful We aren’t doing many of the parks this year so I’m planning Winter Park, Lake Eola,Kissimmee town centre, Celebration, International Drive, Shopping along with resort hopping in both Disney & Universal |

I have the book Day Trips from Orlando which gives routes and information of the areas on said routes. You are more than welcome to have it, we seem to have done most of them now

I like both the Lonely Planet guide to Florida and the Rough Guide to Florida.

When we first started going regularly in the mid 90's we always bought the latest edition of the Brit's Guide. It does go into great detail about the parks but also covers other Orlando places of interest.
britguideorlando Simon has been posting on here recently and we've been exchanging comments about Winter Park and Winter Garden. And no - I'm not on commission. Mick

Watch You Tube videos too if you have the time TimTracker goes off the beaten track away from the theme parks form time to time. He has videos of natural springs, beaches, museums, orange groves , animal sanctuaries etcetera. He and his wife Jenn even have videos of restaurants outside the parks where the food is good and where the locals go.
Yes I’m a fan of Simon and Susan Veness and their informative book A Brit’s Guide to Orlando and Florida too. Packed with great ideas and more up to date info than some other books👍
