Thanks everyone , we don’t mind going further out , with either a taxi or we may hire a car for the six days we are there.

Will look into the Chinese , we open to any food type not just traditional.

It’s a shame the dome is covered with scaffolding , it looks so nice in the Christmas photos but maybe work will be finished in December.

Will have a look at the printing press too,

Thanks

If you like Chinese for Xmas dinner I can also highly recommend Cool Jade which is opposite the Zoo. Really excellent food. If you want to let me know what area you are staying in I might have some more suggestions.
Thanks ,

We are on George street in the principle hotel.

Sorry I missed that in your first post! The Principal is lovely and very central. You may find they offer a nice dinner package on Xmas day which might be worth considering if you don’t want to travel. I’ll have a look and see if any other good restaurants have confirmed if they are opening yet. X

Thanks again I will call the hotel and enquire about Xmas day , with all the trauma of losing my sister we are all a bit muddled and hadn’t even considered our own hotel

Can only begin to imagine the trauma, so very sorry for your loss. Please feel free to send me a personal message if you need any suggestions for other places to visit on your trip. X

If you have a car then highly recommend The Vu, out in West Lothian

Primarily a wedding venue (where we got married! ) also opens for Christmas day dinner. We have been twice now, suberb setting delicious food. They 2 do settings in different parts of the venue at 1pm and 3pm. 4 courses for £50. They are already taking bookings as they phoned us asking if we wanted to return this year!

oh it is! and honestly couldn't fault the hospitality and staff, so nice. they are well versed with dealing with large numbers as that is all they do, so christmas day went seamlessly both times we have been!

DM me if you want me to send you a copy of last year's menu, i think it is the same for this year
