Cancelling a resort booking for DVC

Hi all,

We have a 2 night stay booked at All star music, however we now have the option to book 2 nights at a DVC resort instead, we want to cancel it and book a DVC resort. Does anyone know if we will get charged cancellation fees? I did call disney and the lady wasn't sure, she said when we book the DVC email with the booking confirmation and they may wipe off the cancellation fee as we're not cancelling just changing. But she wasn't 100% sure.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this

Thank you!x

Direct from the UK disney site

I know they usually charge £50pp to cancel, or no charge to upgrade a resort. But as it's a DVC booking rather than a normal upgrade, we're not sure if that would count or not.

Then I suspect you will at a minimum lose your deposit. Who are you planning on booking your DVC stay through?

We were planning on booking it through the same person as we booked our Kidani Village reservation. I did edit my reply to your first message just after you replied again. Just saying we know you're charged for cancelling a reservation, unless you upgrade which then you don't get charged. But I imagine a DVC reservation isn't classed as an upgrade to an existing booking?

So, you are planning on renting points? Then I wouldn’t expect Disney to waive the loss of deposit. They don’t get any income from a DVC owner renting out their points.

I changed my reservation from yacht club to DVC when I became a member. I emailed to cancel my yacht club reservation and they asked for my DVC reservation number. Emailed this to them and they cancelled and refunded my deposit. May have been because I was now a DVC member but worth checking with them.

We cancelled a paid stay to make use of some DVC points my mum had spare. We provided the dvc booking number at time of cancellation and they refunded the deposit to us. That was all we had paid at that time. It was the uk number we called. Was pleasantly surprised.
