Things to do in Washington DC
after months of looking we got a great deal with BA to Washington DC staying at the watergate hotel. For anyone that’s been to Washington before are the main attractions walkable and do you have any suggestions on things to do and places to eat.

I'd recommend the zoo it's free to get into though the parking is dear enough to count as an entrance fee. The orangutans have rope walks across part of the zoo from one exhibit to another over the peoples heads.

We found everything walkable or Metroable. We had a car but left it parked in the Second the Zoo, all the Smithsonian are also free. We did the Pentagon and Capital building tour. There is a shopping mall walking distance from the Pentagon if you are fancy some retail therapy. Georgestown was lovely for shopping too. We took the Metro to the zoo and walked from the stop to the zoo but there is a free shuttle I had a list of places to eat but ended up looking at Tripadvisor and finding places near to eat. It's a fab place to visit, you will have a ball. |

We walked everywhere when we were there in May this year, the attractions are all quite close.

We went for a long weekend about 13 years ago. We hired a car for one day and went out to Manassass (so?) then drove to Baltimore to watch the Orioles and then back to DC. Have a look into Georgetown to see if it’s somewhere you would like to go. I would definitely recommend a bus tour, we used it as our transportation to get around the city.
Have a great trip |

We had a car but it was parked in Avenue Suites for the day. I found the Metro brilliant. Our trip to Washington was four days of a fifteen day road trip so we were glad to do without the car. Just to note that parking is really expensive in the hotels so I would go for a bus tour. There are loads of brilliant trip reports on here. I did a huge amount of research before I went so grab a cuppa or glass of wine and search back. I got so many ideas. There is actually so much to do. I would go back in a heartbeat.
