Yup I keep mine, still have the one for my iPhone 5 upstairs (the phones a bit dead!) same with iPad boxes (they are in the loft... not sure what ones are up there), but Imhaving the boxes did make selling my old phones a bit easier!

We get the most money for them on eBay and you just restore factory settings and it wipes the entire phone .

I sold two I phones 8 yesterday at CEX. Hunted for the boxes for ages, she said they made no difference! She said the only time they would was if they were in absolute mint condition. Mine had a tiny ding on one side which meant it wasn’t. I got £199 for mine and £80 for my husband’s which was really damaged. Didn’t think his was worth anything really! We bought a Nintendo switch with the money for them!

I actually threw a huge pile of phone, tablet, camera and jewellery boxes out this week. The bin man must have thought we had a huge shopping spree this week but it was years and years of boxes.

I know I did wonder if it was a risk. Although we live in a rural area so it’s unlikely that anyone saw our bin other than the bin men and I did push the boxes underneath plain cardboard boxes so they weren’t so visable
