I’m heading down from Scotland at the end of the month, it looks as though the easiest option would be to fly to Heathrow. However I need to get to Oxford from there and need a hotel for the night.

There are plenty of buses from LHR to Oxford, very regular service

Train from LHR to Hayes to Slough and to Oxford takes just over an hour.

Flying into Birmingham is another option as there is a direct train that takes an hour from there.

You can get a bus direct from Heathrow to oxford. Will take you into the town centre (Gloucester Green)

Where in oxford do you need to be for work? In the centre or on the outskirts?

It might be the outskirts, it’s an OX1 postcode coming up as South Hinksey?

Hmm there aren’t a lot of hotels in South Hinksey, although you don’t need to stay in the centre. You could look for somewhere in Botley, otherwise there is a Hampton by Hilton near the Kassam Sadium, you’d still need to get a taxi, and it’s sort of not near anything so if you want more amenities I’d stay more centrally (although it’s more expensive then).

We don’t have Uber in oxford but if you download the 001 taxi app it’s effectively the same thing and really good
