18.06.2019 - Back to LAX

Travelling this time was DH (54) - driver/eater/moaner/petrol head/biker

Me (51) - navigator/planner/booker/spreadsheet creator/feeder

Our last day, and we had breakfast in the hotel

It was very busy but we managed to find a couple of seats.

We had a 124 mile journey back to LAX today for our 17:45 flight home, but as the traffic on the way down yesterday was a bit busy, we decided with heavy hearts not to try and see any more of San Diego. We loved it here and will be returning one day

The hotel was nice too. Perfect location for what we wanted, and after the discount it wasn't too expensive.

The roads out of San Diego were fine

and we were soon well on our way back to LAX

with a few tanks alongside to see us off

We left the hire car at around 2pm with just short of 2500 extra miles on the clock and a few hitch hikers

At the airport we decided to eat to waste some time.

We ate lots

so once on the flight this was hardly touched

The flight landed at 12:20pm the next day.

So that's it then. What a ride - literally

California was amazing. A place of contrast. Incredible iconic scenery. Expensive!

Will would love to return one day, but wouldn't do the road trip again. This really was a trip of a lifetime.

Best bits for us was visiting our friends in Sacramento (although our livers may protest) and San Diego.

So what next?

Well, I have already started checking the flight prices for LHR to MCO next year!

I've really enjoyed reading about your trip. California definitely seems to benefit from alot of planning as there's too much to see in 2 weeks.
Thanks for taking the time to post it.
