Here is the further thread from the OP in the linked thread above https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1152318

I have booked villas through vr360 and paid with both cheque and bank transfer. The key is doing your research, Magnificent’s thread on villa checks here https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1115162 is a good place to start, lots of great information and links. For Dibb villa availability use the link on the right for villa rentals and give your dates/requirements and owners will reply or pm you with availability.

I'm sure that's the case Magnificent, and I genuinely meant no offence or disrespect to you or any other decent villa owners. But in the same way that you must seek to mitigate any potential losses from guests (for example with appropriate insurance cover), so should (in my humble opinion) guests seek to minimise any such losses, and the easiest way to do so would be payment with a credit card.

Since 1996 we have only accepted bank transfer and paypal for payments.
It's very much the norm.

The cost of accepting credit card payments is too high.

For peace of mind, get "End supplier failure" cover on your travel insurance.

Most of my guests pay via bank transfer...some prefer to send a cheque
I do offer cc, but through my booking co. who then deal with all, choice for damage waiveretc, and guarantee the villa stay...so good to choose for anybody who is at all unsure
i know other Dibb owners who also offer this ...but know they many may not

Like Susan i offer the same options but the vast majority of my guests like to use the credit card option for payment through the booking site i use to take my bookings, giving guests a choice of payment options is the best way to go.

We only accept bank transfers.

You are risking a few thousand £'s booking with us via bank transfer but equally I am trusting my quarter of a million dollar home to you. What checks are there for me about guests staying and who ultimately has most to lose?
