I did this in September this year and it was a breeze. Even though I got randomly called for extra security checks I was sitting in departures with 30 Minutes to spare

Hi OP, there was another thread on this a few days ago.
What you do depends on your attitude to how much risk you want to take with your holiday. If everything runs perfectly, then it will be fine. Dublin is a very bad place to miss a connection to Orlando due to the small number of available flights afterwards and those flights are often full. You can wait a couple of days for a connection. In Dublin, the connection times includes - taxiing, disembarking, possible walking between terminals, US security, US immigration. And you need to be at the gate 45 minutes before the flight time. With a 2 hour connection, this gives you one and a quarter hours. The big thing is how much time you build in for delays and this is the unknown. Personally I would be flying over the day before. We are in Ireland and we do this when going via a GB airport. But if this is not an option, being bored for a few hours on a longer connection is a small price to pay to reduce the likelihood of ruining your holiday. |

This was my arguement with DH as we are flying on a Saturday so the next flight is Monday! We have booked with the 6 hour connection and plan on going in 51st and Green for a few hours. Like I said to DH also I would rather do the extra wait this end of the long flight as last year we were stuck in immigration for about 2 and a half hours. Thank you for all your help guys. Dibbers are the best! |

You'd need to confirm that at the check in desk as generally they put the cases straight through, but as you're having an overnight there's a chance that they might issue them back to you for re-checking the next morning

Ta. I’d want to know in advance though, to know what is needed in an overnight bag!

I would normally say to contact their customer service or go via twitter but based on my recent experience, both are as much use as a chocolate teapot.
