When you get your card, start using it to get used to it. It really is very good.
It has a function called vaults where you can round up your purchases and it puts the difference in a 'vault'. So if you use it to buy your coffees etc daily, the few pennies add up. You'd be surprised how much you can 'gain.' I use mine all the time. The app is excellent. Used it for 90% of transactions in Florida without issue. If you can get another person signed up separately, partner or whoever, then if you encounter any problems or your card gets lost/stolen you can transfer your money to theirs for free via the app and still have access to your funds, and vice versa. |

DW and I have a card each for separate Revolut accounts but are linked to the same joint account. The advantage is that we both get the free £200 er month ATM limit plus if one doesn't work for what ever reason hopefully the other will, not that we have ever had a problem with them.

You are correct, except you don’t need to withdraw money in UK, you just need to register it by using ATM with your pin. I did so to change my pin.
There is one issue with the card (and it’s not just revolut). Some ATMs in America ask if you would like them to change your currency from GBP. Press NO, because your currency is already in dollars. If you press yes, it will take your dollars, convert them to GBP then back to $ and charge you for the privilege. This is a legal scam in America. |

This isn't exclusive to America, a lot of European tourist destinations (namely Spain) do this too. But yeah, make sure to always say "NO" when asked if you want to pay in your home currency, it's almost always financially better to pay in the local currency of where you are (i.e. $) as you will be charged less to do this.

This is the opposite of what you would do with a regular credit card where it is advisable to pay in the local currency, am I correct?

EDIT: No, you should almost never choose to pay in your home currency (£) regardless of what type of card you have - most places you visit will charge you an upfront fee just to pay in your home currency, and then you will pay a poor exchange rate so you come off worse, plus your bank may then charge you an upfront fee of 1-3% for the conversion.
It is always advisable to pay in the local currency ($) regardless if you are using credit card or Revolut. You can read more here: forbes/sites/geoffre.../#262390fc3307 I've updated my OP as it was a bit misleading Edited at 09:11 AM. |

Sorry, I didn’t read the word ‘your’ in ‘your local currency’ bit. Yes, I know to always pay in THE local currency
