Virgin Atlantic's popular twilight check-in service is now back up and running at London Gatwick as of March 1st, 2002. You can now check in for your Virgin Atlantic flight, the night before departure, from 3.30 pm to 9pm thus avoiding the peak hours of check-in. To take advatage of Twilight Check-in, ALL members of the party travelling should present themselves at the Twilight Check In desk, based in the South Terminal of London Gatwick airport, with their tickets, passports and luggage. Passengers will be asked the standard security questions and you must leave a local contact telephone number where you will be staying over night. Please note that should you need to check in an additional item of baggage on the day of departure, you must join the regular check-in queues. </td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> Virign Holidays website

Now that IS good news. I was expecting to have to leave home at about 5am to get to Gatwick for when the check-in opened. I will now seriously consider staying in a hotel near Gatwick then we can get up at a sensible time and greatly shorten the travelling day.
I know that this has been asked before but all threads were lost so any recommendations for hotels near Gatwick with secure parking. |

I have stayed at the travel inn, near by the airport and that was only £49.95 I think! Also if you have a Beefeater family card you can stay at the travel lodge for 25% off at weekends. I think I have these the right way round!
