Homewood Suites - International Drive

We are thinking of going again this year, but this time not doing Disney (we have previously stayed at SSR with dining plan).

We cannot afford the above, but still want to return to Florida.

We are looking at Homewood Suites International Drive. We will not be hiring a car this time and this is one of the reasons we are looking at this hotel, one for location, two for the free breakfasts and refreshments served on certain evenings. These things all go someway to saving on the mounting holiday costs.

The one thing that worries me is the pool. Do you think this will be an issue for us as a family with a 9 and 8 year old. We did think we could jump on a trolley to Aquatica.

What are peoples thoughts? Could anybody recommend any other similar deal suites. Not the Enclave Suites though.

P.S. Many years ago, before we had kids, we stayed at Homewood Suites Universal so have some insight into this type of hotel.

Thanks folks.

There's a whole lot of Florida that isn't Orlando. If you're not doing Disney why don't you go somewhere else altogether.

Other airports could be cheaper.

Thank you for your reply. Hubby is adamant that he does not want to drive this year. I fully understand his reasons.

So really just looking for a great location where we can use the public transport and just relax a bit more without rushing from park to park.

Thank you for this, this may be a bit of a sticking point with us. Looking at alternatives.

You can use public transportation in other cities. Fly into Tampa and stay at the beach, ditto Jacksonville, Daytona, Fort Lauderdale, Miami.

We stayed there in October 15 and would recommend it. You can use their sister hotel's pool. Can't remember the name but it's the hotel behind so only a couple of minutes walk. That pool had plenty of sun and good size 😀

We like Homewood Suites as a chain. We've stayed at the IDrive one a few times, we like the separate bedroom and the small but fully functioning kitchen.

The breakfast is good and the protein changes on a daily basis. The food in the evening isn't fancy but decent and a glass of wine or a beer is welcome.

We stayed at the Sonesta suites which are opposite the Orlando eye. They offer free breakfast, shuttles to Disney and Universal and are also in a great location for not having a car.The pool is similar to the Homewood suites but doesn't seem to be in the shade as much.We are staying on I drive for a week in August and I've narrowed our hotel choices down to Sonesta,Homewood and Embassy suites. They all seem to be pretty much the same so will probably go with the cheapest, don't think you can go wrong with any of these.
