We bought the Sightseeing Pass. Paid £135 for 10 but only used 7 as we didn’t have time. We also went for 5 nights.
Looked out for a discount code on google, they come up regularly. They sell passes on groupon too.
There is a really good Facebook forum called “NYC place to be” which I found really good for planning.

very easy. We did pure public transport - no taxis. Subway easy to navigate, buses are clunky but easy and getting about is relatively foolproof (grenwich area is a little more chaotic)

As others have said walking round is so easy, lots and lots of apps that include maps and free wifi almost everywhere. Subways were very well signposted, but we often found total strangers would go out of their way to check we were getting the correct train.
This this must be the easier city we have travelled round in. We mainly walked, got the subway a few time and travelled to and from the airport via the LIRR train

Another that agrees it is incredibly easier. Much easier than navigating any UK city with the gridline street layout.
