Word of Caution on the Travelodge at Gatwick. I booked 4 months in advance via the internet. Had my booking confirmation with me and when I turned up they told me there was no booking and that they had no rooms free... world war 3 started and finally got a room (that they didn't have! ) wont be back in one of their chains again.

That has also happened to us John_Mac but not with a hotel, with car hire. It seems being organised and booking well in advance can confuse some companies! We still managed to get a car though, and was upgraded as they had no economy cars left.

I will be phoning and re-phoning these hotels in the next couple of weeks to make sure they have a note of our bookings, fingers crossed!

The Gatwick Hilton is awful for what you pay.Antiquated building and rooms,Rough at the edges and expensive. It looks and feels old and tired.
If you want a hotel connected to the Terminal

The Meridian is vastly superior and usually cheaper than the Hilton,i would stay there no matter what terminal i fly from.

Try holidayextras.

Sometimes the rates for overnight and parking are not much more than parking on its own.

I always stay if i have an early flight as i do not risk getting stuck on the roads with a very expensive holiday at stake, its just not worth it
