Hi

I have stayed there twice in 1998 and 2000 and found it was very clean, basic and safe but everything we needed - you donot spend alot of time there! We also don't drive but found taxis and the trolley bus reasonable when you consider how much you have to pay for extra car insurance, parking etc. We had no problems getting to parks especially once you have found a friendly taxi driver who you can book to pick you up. Have a good trip

The Quality Inn on I Drive is what i consider to be a medium class hotel and will be fine providing you dont expect too much.
The problem that you have is that you will see lots of places on I Drive that look far better and then you will see the rates they are advertising and think oh i could have stayed there.
Having said that there are also a lot worse places too stay.
What other Hotels do they do in the virgin brochure.
I think they do the Rosen Plaza ( not sure how much)
This hotel is very nice and if its not a lot of extra money it is worth the extra.
Driving in Florida is not the worry it appears to be,it usually takes me a few minutes to get sorted out with the left hand drive and all that, but seriously i would not be without a car when i go there now.
The money you are going to spend on shuttles(at set times) will practically pay for the car.

Have a look at the virgin net site.
Go to Holidays/Travel then to resort finder
select the USA then florida, then Orlando.
When Orlando pops up there will be a message saying-places to stay in this resort
you can look at all the hotel reports then which are very honest

We stayed in the Quality Inn International for 7days on our last isit. It was a bit of a shock as we had only ever stayed in Disney before. It is basic and clean but it could definitely do with a BBC makeover and a few licks of paint.I just felt it was too big and lacking any kind of character at all.Having said that, we found the food pretty good and were able to eat cheaply as a family.I much prefer the southern end of the drive near Mercado and Pointe Orlando. The central part where Quality Inn is, is busy and a bit shabby. However like most ,if you are not in the hotel much it may not matter. Next time we are staying 7 nights in Homewood Suites (southern end) but this option is not available through Virgin.
As far as getting to the parks is concerned, if you want to get to Disneyworld-think of doing it independently of the hotel. You can get the I Ride trolley to just before Sea World and catch the Lynx No50 to Disney transportation centre. From there you can make your way to the parks. It will cost you about $2 each to make the journey and the bus drivers are very helpful. You will save a fortune that way and you will have more flexibility. All the details on I Ride and Lynx are on this site.I hae E mailed Lynx with additional questions about other routes and they have been great.
Make sure you have the No50 timetable- it's no fun standing around in the heat, so time it well.
Whatever you choose, have fun!

Hello

You asked about the Hol Inn - I-drive. We stayed there in '99 and it was good hotel. The complex has Tower Rooms and additional rooms on 2 storeys. The Tower Rooms were more spacious and of course there is a nice view. However, I requested a change in room after the first night as I was worried about my 3yr old. We were on the 8th floor (I think) and the room door opened onto an open corridoor with railings, looking over a courtyard. This was nice, but I was a bit paranoid that my son could clamber over the railing. I am sure it was perfectly safe, but it made me useasy.

The room in the 2-storey complex were slightly smaller. All rooms had a microwave, safe and fridge which was handy. The decor was nice and it was always clean. The pool was very nice and quite big - but a bit chilly when we went in January. There was a bar, shop, restaurant and info centre in the lobby.

All in all it seemed good value for money.

We didn't use the transport system as we had a car, so I can't help you with that.

Hope this is of some help.
Lou

We've stayed at both the Quality Inn International and the Quality Inn Plaza both on I Drive. Personally I prefer the Plaza because it's opposite Pointe Orlando so theres quite a few places to eat, shops, the Schwarz's toy store (my other halfs 39 and its his favourite place! ), the cinema all just over the road. The hotels are both basic but do the job. We're going back to the plaza in about 12 days! and would definately recommend it to anyone who wasn't after a 'luxury' experience. When we stayed at the QI International there were shuttle buses laid on but it limits what time you go out to the parks and what time you come back, driving in orlando really isn't too bad! getting out of the airport, now there's a challenge!

HI

We have stayed at both Quality hotels on I-Drive. I think they are ok, basic, but clean and for the amount of time you stay in the hotel (i.e very little) it does the job. I would agree that I liked the Plaza better as I prefer the location next to the Pointe.
