Calgary

And that brings us on to our final stop, where we’re spending our last two nights in Calgary.

We didn’t want to feel disappointed in our final destination, so have booked a King Club room in the Calgary Marriott Downtown. The lounge may get some use!

It’s located right opposite the Calgary Tower.

Other than spotting a Ruth’s Chris restaurant opposite the hotel too (we do like a good steak, so this could be where we spend dinner on our last night), we’ve planned nothing at all yet for our time here.

We believe there's a big shopping area close by, to make any last minute purchases.

Parking is expensive at the hotel, but we'll swallow the cost to make the transfer to the airport simple for our flight home in the evening.

Wow, first class flights, stunning hotels, amazing places ... And a grandchild . What a trip this is going to be ! Gosh must have been stressy at times with the planning but looks fabulous. Congrats on paying off the mortgage ( nice feeling !) and on the impending grandparent hood. Exciting times. Very much looking forward to the trippy X

We’re really looking forward to it. Need to get a move on and actually plan what we’re going to do in each of these lovely places now.

Well one first class flight each anyway! Better than nothing though.

We’re very excited about becoming grandparents and don’t mind the bit of dithering it caused us at all.

Yes it’s a lovely feeling to be mortgage free - not that we’re saving as much as we thought. Too busy planning holidays.

Just been reading your Toronto trip report as we are off there in October for 8 nights.

I then noticed you were off to Vancouver and the Rockies and realised it was today you were gong!

How exciting flying First Class.

Looking at the photos on your pre tripie, I was so envious of your plans. Canada and the Rockies has been our favourite holiday so far - we have had some others, but nothing can top it. You are in for a treat.

I am sorry I didn't see this before to give you some tips. I hope you found my trip report.

Have an amazing time. I look forward to reading your trip report.

Thanks Mel. Being organised and writing my trip report early came back to bite me!

It’s certainly been a difficult few weeks and today has been bittersweet. We’ve arrived in Vancouver now though and are really hoping it does us the world of good.

I did find your trip report thank you and reread it again recently when the Photobucket issue was sorted.

First class was fabulous - it just didn’t feel like we were on a plane. I normally don’t like plane food, and instead pick up a Meal Deal at the airport. Well I certainly can’t say the same about this flight and it’s food!

I’m really not looking forward to coming home now though, without a seat that turns into a bed. We’ve been properly spoilt.

Hi Jo, hope you’re having a great time and enjoying Vancouver.

We are just leaving Jasper today and the whole Rockies has been unbelievable. Weather a bit cooler ( they had snow higher up couple of days ago 😬 ) but didn’t stop us doing and seeing lots. We went to the burger place - newly opened - in the Crimson and had a good meal there, the staff where lovely, also recommend the Jasper Brewery Co ( good beers ) and Bear Paw Bakery, the cinnamon buns are amazing. Wildlife in Jasper has been plentiful with lots of bears and Maligne Lake is stunning. If you get chance also stop at Sunwapta Falls, there’s a walk to the lower falls too which is worth it.

Whole place is just stunning, had an amazing trip so far and ready to explore more. Hope you have an equally brilliant trip.

Making notes from your plans, we've got 2 weeks in Banff so hoping to do most things but also get some chilling by the pool done. DH wouldn't stretch to even PE though let alone First class I did drop some hints about it being our 30th wedding anniversary when I booked though

Neil, it sounds so great, I can’t wait to see it. I think we’ve got Sunwapta Falls on our plan too.

So glad to hear that the wildlife is plentiful. It makes being unable to get on the wildlife tour less disappointing. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

That sounds lovely. I remember you cancelling your trip last year, so am glad you’ve rebooked for this year.

Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be back to economy flights next year.

Congratulations on your anniversary. I’m sure you’ll find some lovely ways to celebrate it while you’re there. Have a fab holiday.
