Beach near Canaveral
We are thinking of doing a day or two at the beach before heading on a cruise from Canaveral. Can anyone recommend a nice beach with reasonable hotels nearby? Vero looks lovely but a little out of our budget for this part of the trip. The group will include tweens, adults and seniors so somewhere family friendly if possible.

Cocoa Beach would seem the obvious one.
Whilst much preferring the Gulf Coast, it is a very nice beach.

We were thinking this one as it is so close, do you have any recommendations of where to stay?

We stayed iin the Wakulla Lodge. It is now called the Westgate Resort.I loved it, but Mandie thought it shabby. It gave us two bedrooms at a very good price. Have a look on tripadvisor and make your own mind up on it.
Mandie likes new and Hyatt, Wyndham, Marriott, Prem Inn type places. I like something a tad older and more eclectic. We still argue about the place to this day.😃

We stayed there too, had mixed thoughts on it. The rooms were very good and the pool and the little lazy river brilliant but it was an upgraded motel and parts of the outsides were a bit shabby. There is a free bus to the pier which we used and ate lunches on the Pier. The food and drink onsite was a bit expensive so we ate lunch and evening meal at the nearby IHOP!

We stayed in a place in Cocoa Beach probably about 25 years ago. Can’t remember the name, but this was the only resort I’ve stayed where I had a “keep your motel doors locked” vibe.
I might be doing the area an injustice and it was ages ago.

OP when we did something similar a couple of years ago we stayed at the Hilton Cocoa Beach. It wasn’t the cheapest, but has a large car park so there’s somewhere to dump the motor, and is ON the beach. If you’re a member of the Hilton Rewards programme you got a room category upgrade, and better unlimited Wi-fi 😉.

We've not stayed overnight at Cocoa but spent the day there, the beach is glorious! It's very laid back, chilled and never overly busy! We're actually big fans of the East Coast beaches!
These were taken in October 2019!

We love Cocoa Beach, but as above we always tend to just visit for the day.
Sitting at the Rikki Tiki Tavern on the end of the pier with a beer and some food, just watching the world float and fly by is a wonderful way to spend a few hours - cocoabeachpier/dinin...i-tiki-tavern/ |
