Be careful what you wish for ... 3 years ago DD had to cook the Christmas lunch as I was in bed with flu for nearly 2 weeks. Apparently she did a good job of what was her first roast dinner - I never got to see any of it.

The following year I complained that our cooker was so old I didn't want to cook Christmas lunch on it but I ended up cooking the lunch at the in-laws as MIL was too frail to travel (for what turned out to be her last Christmas.)

Food’s not a problem with M&S Foodhall a few minutes drive away, but I would miss the company of my family 😥
