Disney Cruise with tween

We are considering a Disney Cruise but my daughter will be 11 when we go and it just feels like its going to be a funny age.

She loves Disney World but doing a Disney Cruise without the ride element I wonder if its going to fall falt for her.

In general what do they have on offer for this age group who aren't all the interested in the character meets.

*never been on a cruise before

You should head to YouTube and check out various first day embarkation videos from the 4 Disney ships. On the first day there is Open House in the kids clubs and many people do video tours.

At age 11, the club for her is called The Edge disneycruise.disney.go/o...ge-youth-club/

She is also the right age group for Oceaneer Lab disneycruise.disney.go/o...ab-youth-club/

and
Oceaneer Club disneycruise.disney.go/o...er-youth-club/

It depends on the child but I have read many trip reports where the kids just want spend the whole time in the kids club, as they make friends, and get to so much really cool stuff.

The theatre shows and movies and many activities in the main ship areas are family friendly.

Basically Disney Cruise Line takes the same approach as the parks, almost everything can be enjoyed by kids and adults.

You should also take a look at the archive of daily planners, called Navigators on disneycruiselineblog/cat...al-navigators/

You can pick a cruise, any ship any date , any route and have a look at the various activities offered.

Just because there are no rides, does not mean a person, adult or child will have nothing to do on a Disney ship.

Also remember the ports, some routes are more port intensive than others, some routes dont have at sea days, so the ship and route you choose really depends on what type of cruise you want to experience.

Out daughter had just turned 12 when we took our first Disney cruise last December.

I thought she would be a pain to be honest , she was at the funny age (and still is) where every thing is too much trouble!

After much persuasion we convinced her to go to edge after dinner on the first night, we basically didn’t see her for 4 days after that.

I did feel at times that we missed out being together as a family but it’s their holiday as well and it’s still talked about as the best holiday ever!

This is all so handy to know! I’ve been wondering about my children too - at 13 and 9 (or possibly 14 and 10 as we’re hoping to postpone for a year) they’d love going to the clubs together, but will be in different age groups. I’ll have a look at those links so we can convince them they’ll be happy going to the clubs without each other!

Why not try a non Disney cruise line they are much more affordable?

We took our son for the first time at 12 and he had the best time. He’s 15 now and it’s a lot different 😬

Best ship we have found for teens is Anthem of the Seas, they had so much for them to do, and places to just ‘hang out’ there is a massive room called Seaplex, they offer roller skating here, bumper cars, trapeze classes, five a side, dodgeball, discos, the list goes on... theres a johnny rockets there too.

Just in case you change your mind in future or this helps others!
