Here in Stockport it looks like they charge the following:

1 item = £18.82
2 items = £37.50
3 to 8 items = £56.72
Garden and building collection (weight/charge assessment required) = £109.78 per hour

There's also a £10 amendment fee if you decide to cancel or change the number of items.

The amounts seem very specific. It's like someone has done some complicated maths to arrive at a cost of exactly £18.82 for 1 item but then given up once they got past 3 items.

Ours is £25 for up to 5 items

A 3 door wardrobe counts as two items, 4 door wardrobe is three items - things like wardrobes have to be dismantled and taped together in bundles with no fixings sticking out or they wont be lifted - no black bags will be lifted, no garden waste etc etc

We used to get 3 free uplifts per year per household but they started charging in 2018 and have no greatly reduced the opening times of the local tips making it very difficult to get rid of rubbish!

£2 to collect a bucket that you probably spent £1 on to buy 😀

Our list of items is also pretty cool - especially the fact some items actually count as more than one item
A 6 foot carpet is 5 items , yet a snooker table ( full size one is 12 foot ) is only 1 item

And what have people tried to have collected in the past for the council to have included it in the list of items they won’t collect
Eg a Garage ! 😂😂😂.
Just when I was thinking of asking them to collect my garage from the side of my house !

Why is there absolutely no consistency between councils ?
One unified simple consistent system that is the same for everyone ?
we can also take upto 10 van loads of stuff into the local tip per year at no cost for the permit

I've used 3 this year to take a load of decking and garden crap to the tip, cost £80 to hire a van for the weekend.. a skip was £250...

If we ever finish the decorating and get the gardens sorted, I may put them to the challenge.
