Well another fantastic day
I hope to be doing that same drive in a couple of years and I just wish it was sooner

I hope you manage to do this drive, you won't be disappointed. There really is so much to see in Death Valley we only stopped at a few places in our short time there.

Thanks for reading along

Wow! What an incredible and diverse landscape Death Valley is. I think I need to plan a West Coast road trip It's all so beautiful, but you must have been feeling a bit anxious when you still had a ways to go after dark - I know I would have been. The drive through the valley sounds and looks amazing.

Julia - did you know there is ' drive safely, come back soon ' on the reverse of the Las Vegas sign ?
May have been more appropriate , and no queues on that side

Great day and great photos, your kids have gotten so much bigger.
You made me laugh about the petrol as I wish I’d thought of that. Our first trip to the states in 2000 we did the Death Valley drive from Las Vegas and my husband said we didn’t need to fill up and we were on nearly empty through Death Valley and the only other vehicle we saw was a Pick up with a couple of rifles propped up in the back. I definitely wasn’t laughing at the time. We were driving onto Yosemite and the pass was closed because of snow (this was May) so we had to continue on and ended up at Lake Tahoe which wasn’t in the plan and had to buy snow chains. It was a bit of a journey!
Looking forward to the rest of your trip, I can’t wait until my youngest is a bit older so we can do a similar trip with them.

The queue wasn't too bad really but it was really hot and we didn't want to be stood out in the heat too long!

We were in denial about leaving Las Vegas so the welcome sign made us smile

Kids grow up so quickly don't they.
Oh no that sounds really scary especially the pick up truck! I would've been having a few choice words with Scott if that had happened to us
Sounds like an eventful journey, at least you visited somewhere that you'd not planned. Glad all went well!

That will be a brilliant family holiday to look forward to and you'll know not to make the same mistakes

Wow what a day! You're certainly cramming it in!
What a contrast between Death Valley and the Grand Canyon?!
