I have visited Rome x 2, Sorrento area x 2 in recent years and have also visited Sardinia and Lido de Jesolo further back.

For me it would be 10 days Sorrento and with a further 4 days at one end or other for Rome, which is just 1hr 12 mins by very fast train from Naples. In other words, a multi centre vacation, but no car at all.

Sorrento has no real beaches, rather floating pontoons. We went to a nothing sort of beach at Positano.
What Sorrento does have is the following, all easily accessible by train or boat..
Capri
Sorrento itself
Pompeii
Herculaneum
Naples archeological museum
Vesuvius.
The amazing Positano (by bus).

Rome has..
Well everybody knows what Rome has.

We can only travel during school summer holidays as I’m a college lecturer and children in school. My eldest is also doing her GCSEs next summer also.

Ah hadn’t thought about a twin centre in Italy! Thank you.
Definitely be good to tag on city break also. Sardinia is somewhere I am really liking also! As well as Sicily! Think Italy will be our new Florida for the next few years!

We went to Rimini and Cattolica many years ago and had a wonderful time. The beaches were beautiful and we had a day trip to San Marino while we were there. We had thought about returning maybe next year but I have just had a look for flights and it doesn't look like you can fly direct to Rimini from the UK anymore.

Yes our DS is 14 and he loved it. His favourites were probably Pompeii and Vesuvius. He also loved the private boat we hired (with Captain, I didn't drive it!) that took us to Capri and took us swimming in the sea.

He loved the food and the sunshine and the pool and just wandering around Sorrento and getting gelato and everything really.

We are hoping to go to sorrento in August 2021. It’s booked anyway so hoping it goes ahead. We are flying direct from Birmingham with easyJet if that helps x
