Paying holiday balance

We are due to pay the balance on our holiday in the next few days
Under the current climate would you pay with a credi card to be on the safe side?

Most definitely. It offers extra cover if the holiday company goes bust

Are you still going to pay the balance even though not likely to travel? We're in the same situation and very concerned.

Most definitely / you still have 87 days to go so hopefully restrictions will be lifted.

You should reconfirm with Credit Card company if they will cover it, my insurance reads if anything after the 18th March is not covered, its not clear if that covers paying an outstanding amount, i would want to double check card cover

You still have the ability to move your dates so to do that I’d need to pay the balance
Plus the holiday was booked months ago and no one can give you an answer about cover just now anyway

Is this the nationwide travel insurance?

As I read it as, if booked after 18/03/2020 then you arent covered for any situation resulting from Covid-19. But if booked before 18/03/2020 then your holiday would be covered.

Also, the credit card guarantee is only really relevant if the company goes bust, or you have exhausted all other options of getting a refund/replacement.

I personally would pay the balance on a credit card, just for added protection from the company possibly going bust.

We’re due to pay the balance of our villa next week, was very worried but contacted the company who were most helpful. If we don’t lay we lose our deposit regardless. If we pay, we may still get to go or move our booking til next year. Check that if you don’t pay do you forfeit your deposit

Basically if you don't pay any remaining balance due without speaking to your holiday company first to check your options you stand to lose everything you have paid so far even if the company subsequently cancels your holiday. But as long as you have paid everything you are entitled to a full refund including deposits if it is then cancelled. Also you are likely to be given the option to move to a new date if possible.

So always pay any remaining balance when due unless you are happy losing everything.
