Mobile Virgin Atlantic open ticket

Sorry, i have asked so many questions 🙈

If we change our booking with virgin atlantic to an open ticket (to be used next july) and Virgin to go bust are we covered or not with the credit card?
The information that Martin lewis has given regarding vouchers not being covered has me very worried.
Is an open ticket the same as a voucher?

I know the best thing is to wait until the flight gets cancelled but i am afraid that if by chance it goes ahead we can not risk going due to our daughters medical risks.

I've tried to find an answer to this, want to move my October flights to next year. Its called a ticket not voucher & others have said the ticket has a date of 31st December, so it can be still called a ticket.
I'm not going, so my other option is to pay to move it,£200 each, so I'm going for open ticket.

It’s a big call and I don’t think anyone on here is 100% certain. There is a lot of people saying it’s a ticket and not voucher BUT what’s the difference? For me it’s not worth the risk because it’s how the credit card company view it?

I personally wouldn’t be taking the risk.

Maybe ask your credit card company for peace of mind? It is a ticket though with fare classes and dates attached to your original booking reference.

An open ticket is a voucher as it can be redeemed in full or part for a future booking. A ticket is for a specified route on a specified day for an agreed price.

You won’t be covered if VA go into administration for an open ticket but would be for a “Ticket”. Hope you paid by credit card.
